Project Overview
Planning is currently underway for a new integrated health facility that will replace the aging St. Anthony’s Hospital and the Centennial Special Care Home. This initiative marks a major step toward modernizing healthcare infrastructure in Esterhazy.
Government Support & Funding
In 2025, the Saskatchewan government allocated $250,000 for the planning phase.
An additional $650,000 is earmarked for 2026–27 to upgrade essential infrastructure, including sewer and sanitary waste systems.
A comprehensive business case is being developed, assessing location, infrastructure readiness, and future needs—laying the groundwork for eventual capital investment.
Community Collaboration & Planning
The Town of Esterhazy has narrowed potential sites for the new facility to two, following an evaluation of five or six initial locations.
In response, a master plan committee has been established to coordinate infrastructure development across the community over the next 20 years.
The newly formed Esterhazy & District Health Care Committee brings together local stakeholders and centralizes fundraising efforts through the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation—ensuring transparency and strategic coordination.
Enhancing Patient Care & Facility Operations
While planning progresses, the existing facilities continue to receive essential upgrades to ensure safe and reliable operation during the interim period.
Investments include new digital radiology equipment, advanced lab systems, and improved patient lifting devices—many of which are designed to be transferable to the future facility.
Why This Matters
Esterhazy’s new integrated health facility represents not just a modernization of physical infrastructure, but a strategic, community-driven approach to long-term healthcare delivery. Through collaborative planning, phased investment, and forward-looking design, this project aims to ensure high-quality care for decades to come.
